Cargo traffic in Tripoli Port rises by 30 per cent

Tripoli_port.jpgCargo traffic going through the port of Tripoli city, the second-largest Lebanese city after Beirut, saw an increase of 30.22 per cent during the first seven months of the year 2015.

The traffic during the period reached 902,000 tonnes compared with the 692,000 tonnes the port achieved during the same period last year, the Saudi Press Agency reports.

A report published in Beirut recently shows that Tripoli Port received various products weighing around 145,853 tonnes during last July compared with 14,100 tonnes during June, a month before.

The report points out that the number of ships received by the Lebanese northern port increased by 26.05 per cent to 392 ships until last July, compared to 311 ships by the end of July 2014.

The report adds that the port’s revenues (excluding customs imports and imports of value-added tax imports) for this port improved by 9.69 per cent to roughly $7.560 million during the first seven months of the year compared to $6.890m in the same period of 2014.
